Just as physical characteristics are carried on DNA through family generations, so can be talents and abilities.

 

The mountains of Avery County have been blessed with generations of folks with the genes that carry musical and dancing talent.

 

Our Museum has an archive of the works of Lulu Belle and Scotty Wiseman as well of displays of the Aldridge Sisters and famed dance instructor Kaye Burleson Wilkins.

 

From the Johnsons to the many Wisemans, the Clarks, Graggs, Houstons and Vances, the Hensons and the Banners, Avery County has been home to many

"fiddle-playin’-foot-stompin’” families.
